MSR - Background

MSR exists for the relief of sickness in Eastern & Central Europe, especially Romania, through the promotion of high standards of health care and good clinical practice. To this end MSR may provide training courses in the UK and Romania, deliver medical equipment and supplies, undertake and disseminate research.

MSR decided in 1991 to focus, where aid was concerned, on one hospital.

This focus enables MSR to:

  • Assess hospital needs by regular visits of experts, who establish long-term friendships and relationships with local staff.
  • Upgrade and support hospital development through the provision of appropriate equipment, consumables, expertise & training. In this way the hospital would be able to pilot practices and standards with a potential for national impact. English tuition is also given to hospital staff.
  • Encourage development and support from local health care authorities.
  • Devise methods for sustainable development.
